The media in Africa is expanding rapidly due to advances in telecommunications, especially mobile phones and the internet. In newspaper reporting, many Africans have won international media awards. Digital media and the internet are increasingly part of the African media landscape. One specific development worth mentioning is the rise of mobile reporting. Radio is a more popular medium than TV mainly due to poverty and lack of electricity. Media of Tanzania includes print, radio, television, and the Internet. The “Tanzania Communications Regulatory Act” of 2003 created the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, which oversees broadcast licensing. With over 130 languages spoken within its territory, Tanzania is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Africa.
